After taking into account the price of beer, cigarettes and Pot Noodles, Wolverhampton has come up trumps in a league table of student living costs.
Video journalist Victoria Hoe went out to investigate.

it has to be cheap, y else would people go to wolverhampton uni? their reputation? they were low in the rankings as one the the poorest unis.
hmm now if it only was not bottom but 1 in the league of of Universities then we would be ok!
Those Uni league tables are cobblers. I went there and had a great time.
I used to have a very negative opinion of Wolves Uni but have really changed my mind over the past 2 years.
The reality is that the lecturers and facilities are as good as any of their local rivals and if you go there as a student you stand a better chance of having a good experience.
When you look at how league tables work, you have to remember that Wolves Uni doesn’t get given a load of reasearch funding like some of the “older” Uni’s (if they did they would leap up the tables) and also Wolves Uni gives a greater/broader number of people the chance to study for a degree. So if they changed their entry requirements to only allow A level students with A’s and B’s and rather than lecturers spending time with students teachiung them they instead spent lots of doing reasearch, then Wolves Uni would go up the league tables - but would that help the local students?
Hmmmmm doing a masters there and most of the lecturers have either left and not being replaced and now they have scraped some of the modules and courses available! Wonder why it was nearly bottom of the league tables?
