Are you still using your mobile phone while driving?

Twice as many motorists in the West Midlands are putting lives at risk by using their mobiles while driving as last year - despite stiffer penalties and the possibility of losing their licence.

Video journalist Wendy Lloyd went out to talk to drivers.

    You really cannot tell me that 1. Handsfree is not affordable if you own a vehicle and 2. It is necessary to text as you drive.

    This behaviour seems compulsory for white van drivers, taxis and private hire cars.

    what do you expect when you don’t even see a police patrol anymore, the law is a joke i see at least 5 to 10 people on there phone’s, even a massive lorry carrying a full load was on his mobile,
    {a message for the law speed cameras don’t catch mobile users uninsured cars ,cars with no tax etc etc etc etc}, the list is endless.

    Lose your license if using a mobile phone while driving!!
    Better than losing your life, or taking someone else’s life.
    Won’t happen to you? Think again!!

    Its time that people were retested every 10 years.
    How many people know that the highway code had 29 new rules added to it!
    How many of the smokers know that you can be arrested for smoking whilst operating a car now!

    Roads policing is unfortunately not a Home Office priority. It isn’t subject of many performance targets, so forces see no reason to bother too much with having a robust and effective traffic department.

    The government seem to believe that speed cameras can do the same job as police officers, but at a much reduced cost. When was the last time a camera caught a drunk, disqualified, uninsured or dangerous driver? I’ll give you a clue - never.

    most of the drivers using mobiles tend to be fat women driving 4X4s who are oblivious to other road users If they walked whilst phoning they may possibly lose a bit of weight
