Cardiff 2 Wolves 3

jody.jpgJody Craddock’s late goal clinched victory for Wolves in a thriller at Ninian Park.

Michael Kightly put Mick McCarthy’s men in front after 13 minutes but veteran strikers from Robbie Fowler (25) and Jimm yFloyd Hasselbaink (29) gave the Welsh side a 2-1 lead at half time.

Influential winger Kightly brought Wolves level after 66 minutes before Craddock struck 18 minutes from time.

The defender headed home Jay Botroyd’s corner to score the goal which puts Wolves third in the table with 21 points from 12 games.

What a fantastic result for the boys against a dogged side that got the better of us twice in the league last season. Kights sounds like he was on fire and Jay seems to have worked hard again. Keep it up lads, not only are we 3rd in the league, we’re above the baggies too, I keep hearing murmurings of ‘the cream always rises to the top’ well it is doing so far ! We only went 3rd due to Bristol City winning else we could have gone into 2nd place but I’ll settle for third and a promise of some more sheer grit and determination from our boys for the rest of the season. Bring on the next victims please… Ipswich here we come !

What a night and what a great result beating a former manager`s team at their own patch and with our own ex-goalkeeper. It is sweet revenge for last season`s two losses against them.

    Cracking performance! Superb!

  28. WetWolf said:

Have we stopped calling for Mick’s head yet? Up to third and we still aren’t at full throttle! The team is showing real backbone now. I’m sure we will get even better over the next few weeks.

Had to listen in on the radio tonight. Sounded like a battling performance from the lads with the class of Bothroyd and Kightly showing through.

Bothroyd and Eastwood partnership sounded like it could work if they get the chance to play together a bit more. Does anyone still doubt Bothroyd after tonight? If he works like that every week he has to stay in the team. Sounded like he outworked Keogh in the first half.

I was surprised Jarvis wasn’t in the squad. I felt he could cause damage down the left. I guess his time will come eventually. I reckon that will be when we hit top form!

I hope we can do Ipswich over on Saturday. We need to keep this momentum going.

    GO ON THE WOLVES!!!!!!!

I posted on here about 4 weeks ago when there were loads of you saying MM should go and I labeled the ones who were calling for his head a disgrace and you should be ashamed of yourselves. Where are the doubters now?, fickle, fickle fickle. Worse than Villa fans. Fair play though, fantastic result at a difficult place to go.

Sounded like a brilliant win for wolves we showed alot of character to comeback from 2-1 down away from home to win. Also it will shut up alot of the negative MM whingers. Its about time we beat cardiff. Listening to the radio it sounded like a lively atmosphere, with us singing “sweet chariots” and “god save the queen” Season starts now, next stop the tractor boys.

  52. Hunty789 said:

Listened to the match on the radio last night. Great result. Just wanted to congratulate the wolves fans who created a great atmosphere. You could here them singing all night, fair play lads. Bring on ipswich, we are on a roll now

I would like to ask the same question ie “Where are the doubters now”?

I could name and shame them buts what’s the point, they’ll be back don’t worry.

Anyway we both have fickle fans, check the Albion posts after the last match you lost.

  54. foreign legion said:

great result to go away from home and score three goals. Well done kightly. As for super Jody Craddock, how could we have considered getting rid earlier in the season. His goals could make all the difference come next May.

  55. W.B. Yay! said:

Excellent result for you and with Albion right up there too this could prove to be one of the most exciting seasons for years in the good old Black Country. How brilliant will the derby match be if we’re both on top form?

Still think we’re the better team though!

  56. wolfmanmac said:

Mick at the moment seems to be managing the Republic team from his Wolverhampton base, does he get double money?

  57. Bojangles Wolf said:

To all you people saying where are the doubters… Well I was one of them although- What I actually said was that Mick wanted to book up his ideas otherwise Morgan would have him out…

Hands up I was wrong… But as far as I am concerned everyone has the right of an opinion

Fair play to you Mick you knew best…

I was there last night and I have just got to say… Fantstic result… Hennessey was superb and Eastwood did his bit when he came on…

Onto Ipswich for a tough battle… I will take a draw! and a win against Bristol City!

Our matches have got 5 goal thriller written all over them - can’t wait!! (probably be 0-0 with my recent track record of predictions).

  63. WetWolf said:

Regarding Comment 50. from Romsley Baggie:

You make a fair point. Wolves fans are fickle. Calling for the manager’s head when we were in the top half of the table and only a few points off the leaders was madness.

I’ve said on here many times that we should be realistic about our expectations and not rush to judgement this early in the season.
Let’s give Mick time and see what he can do for us. Judge him at the end of the season if he doesn’t achieve his own target of a playoff place, but not before.
Meantime we should be singing his name, the name of the club and every player he chooses to put on the pitch (even if we disagree with the choice). We are supporters, that’s what we should do!

We’ve climbed a long way from favourites to go down at the start of last season. We have MM to thank for that. We certainly shouldn’t want to see the back of him because he isn’t spending all of Morgan’s millions in one go!

    COME ON THE WOLVES!!!!!

  64. Eddie Wolf said:

Cheers H_B. Nice to see an Albion fan with more than one perspective. You crack us up & without your lively banter it would not be the same.

Well Done lads! Nice to hear Oaksey saluted the Wolves fans at the end. Is that true?

At last we have proved that we can slug it out and come from behind !! Well done lads and keep it up because we have a couple of games coming up where we are going to have to do the same - Ipswich on Saturday and Bristol City the following week. We mustn’t underestimate the City side they will come at us. I’m not sure they’ve played anyone at the top yet so it will be interesting to see how they cope.

50 & 63 - agree totally with your comments. Let’s get off MM’s back and put that energy into supporting the manager & team - not using it to knock them. there’s still an awful long way to go and as Happy Baggie said what a season it’s gonna be !!

    Come on you Wolves !!

  67. besty said:

i must say sorry to the boggies ,because yesterday i said we would be second and they would be third ,but we’re third and your fourth, but we’re both doing ok at the momment, lets hope we’re both still there at the end of the season but we’re second or even top ?.

  68. tonymischi said:

Chin up DJ, you beat us 4-0 last season at cardiff with the help of a couple of daft refereeing decisions. This result was a better refelection of our capabilities, looks like we’re finally getting into our stride!
    Craddock!!…essential..
inspirational and honourary dream team leader.

Completely agree with the sentiments expressed here today, namely, great win, MM doubters you are very quiet.
Bojangles - I didn’t have you down as a MM doubter - not like the others anyway - saying he needs to buck up is not the same as ‘he should go’.
Happy, thanks again for your comments, but I would like to point out that in 61, we can’t be you cos we won our five goal thriller!

I’m curious as to where all the MM “bashers” have suddenly gone to! 2 weeks ago loads of so called Wolves fans were calling for his head after the defeat to Hull and the “poor” performance of only scoring twice against Norwich, and I quote “I give him 3 more games and he’ll be out”. How fickle can they be?

I’ll admit some of his comments and decisions have been a little strange but he is the manager and human and therefore allowed to make errors and I believe he should be given 2 or 3 seasons to bed in and see where he takes our great club, not buried under a massive pile of fan expectantcy.

I’d bet my yearly wage that half of you who wanted him sacked 3 weeks ago were singing “super Mick McCarthy” on Saturday against Charlton!!! Short memorey span me thinks. Lets just get behind the club and see where the roller coaster ride named WWFC takes us. I CAN’T WAIT.
