Stafford started this game determined and for the first twenty minutes looked the more likely to open the scoring and Wyrley were struggling find a way through Staffords defence who were playing deep.

But against the run of play Stacey Arnold managed to run from her own half onto a through ball and her pace and skill ensured the keeper beaten.

Stafford carried on playing with determination and some great football was played by both sides, a corner won by Wyrley was taken by Jade Ward who put a superb ball into the box for Stephanie Clarke to head home.

At half time the score was 2-0.

Stafford started the second half the same as the first and deservedly got a goal back but then Wyrley stepped a gear and from then on it was all one way scoring, April Phillips got their third and Arnold added her second, another corner from Ward this time found the head of Kirsty Hughes who didn’t hesitate to score Wyrley’s fifth, the last fifteen minutes saw Phillips constantly ripping Stafford apart and she scored three goals, the last one was a volley as perfect as any could be.

It was a great performance from Wyrley, the whole team did their job and from a spectators point of view it was tremendous.

Stafford certainly played their part and never stopped trying, Emily Lloyd in the Wyrley goal had to make quite a few saves.

Stafford are a very good side who just happened to be playing Wyrley at somewhere near their best and not missing any goal scoring chances.

Player of the match was April Phillips. Next game: Sunday 28th October, 2007 - Away to Coseley
