West Midlands football results round-upBeacon League Premiership outfit AFC Codsall put in a breath-taking performance to knock Wolverhampton Sunday League side Emerald Athletic out of the Birmingham County FA Sunday Junior Cup, writes Chris Flavell.

Four goals from Codsall’s Ryan Edmunds and strikes from Dave Johnson and Simon Edwards made for a convincing victory over their Wolverhampton Sunday League Division Two counterparts, who currently boast an unbeaten league record this season.

First round cup joy was also shared by fellow Beacon League side Shippies.

They beat Orton Vale Old Boys 5-2 away from home.

A brace from Neil Stackhouse and goals from Chris Clarke, Barry Leith and Kieran Goddard made sure Shippies progressed to the second round.

They will be joined in the next round by Bilbrook Rangers, who came out on top after a seven-goal thriller with Sedgley Conservatives.

Two strikes from Ryan Bradshaw and further goals from Steven Worley and Ashley Pountney were enough for Rangers to see off a spirited Sedgley side.

A great weekend for Beacon Football League sides in the cup was made even better as second division Oakdale Social made sure their name was in the hat with a fine 2-0 win over Hill Top.

Luke Davies and Tom Lowe both hit the back of the net to give home-side Social the win.

Barley Mow Wanderers failed to match the success of their fellow Beacon League sides in round one, losing 7-2 away from home to Bagot Arms.

Smethwick Heating regained first place in the Lawsons Premiership with a 2-0 victory over Navigation.

A strike from Matt Baines gave the home-side a 1-0 half time lead before a 30-yard pile-driver from captain Damien Gwilliams made sure of the points in the second half.

The win sees Smethwick them move one point clear at the top of the table ahead of AFC Codsall.

However, Codsall will be hoping to capitalise on their two games in hand. A brace from Dominic Smith helped Sedgley White Lions West to a 3-1 away win over Hill Top Rangers.

Smith opened the scoring for Sedgley before John Burgin made it 2-0 to the visitors. David Allan pulled Hill Top back into the game with a strike to make it 2-1.

Finally, Smith added his second of the game to wrap up the victory for Sedgley West moving them to third in the table.

Sedgley White Lions made sure they remain close behind their rivals with a fine 4-2 away win over Tipton Rovers.

Carl Bradley opened the scoring for Sedgley before Rovers’ Jason Lewis hit the leveller.

Danny Crudgington again gave White Lions the lead before Jo Hall gave them a two-goal cushion.

But never-say-die Tipton hit back again through Richard Lewis to make it 3-2.

However, Tipton’s fight back was quashed when Mike Robertson made no mistake in front of goal.

Sedgley White Lions now take up fourth place behind Sedgley White Lions West. Only goal difference separates the sides.

A hat-trick from Lee Thorp gave Great Barr Galaxy a 4-2 away win over AC Harborne in BTH Boiler Services Division One.

Dan Sheldon and Mick Hale scored for Harborne but Ryan Hanley added a fourth for the visitors to make sure of the points.

Village Hotel made it back-to-back wins with a 5-3 victory over Darby End.

Goals from Carl Webster, Ben Sprigg, Fidel Glanville and two for Mark Burian meant Village have now won two on the bounce after a slow start to the campaign.

Steve Jones hit two for Darby End and Miguel Licaj added a third. Two Mark Trevor goals kept Portobello Royal Oak’s unbeaten start to the season intact as they beat Windsor Old Boys to stay second.

Royal Oak came from behind to take the points after Windsor winger Adam Meehan opened the scoring.

Pensnett Panthers move top of division one following a 2-1 away win over St Chads Old Boys.

There seems to be no stopping Verson Park Rangers this season after their sixth straight victory put them five points clear at the top of Call Print Division Two.

A Liam Dudley strike and a brace from John Higgs gave them a 3-0 away win against Wombourne Wanderers.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Deaf recorded their second win of the season thanks to four-goal hero Chris Beech. Beech made it 2-0 before Coven’s Lee Amos got his side back in the game by making it 2-1.

However, Beech hit another two to put the game out of reach.

Codsall Athletic had to come from behind to beat The Wanderer 3-1. In-form Thomas Slade gave the visitors a 1-0 lead before Codsall’s Josh Wright hit back with two of his own. James Pearce wrapped up the game with Codsall’s third.

A Rhys Phipps brace helped Sedgley Scorpions to a 4-2 win over Enterprise Eagles.

Other goals from Ben Woodall and Adam Bryan gave Scorpions the points after an own goal and a Mark Sunderland strike made a game of it for the Eagles.

TC United grabbed their first win of the season with a 4-2 away victory against Sedgley Park. Jolly Sailor and FC Perton shared the points after playing out a competitive 2-2 draw.
