Fly fishing visitors to Blithfield Reservoir enjoyed a good week.
Overall the 150 rods landed 320 rainbows. The largest of the week was a 4 lb 6 oz hooked by Newcastle (Staffs) angler Dave Naylor.
Bill Nunn from Bloxwich landed eight to 3 lbs with a red suspended buzzer. Pete Lansdale hooked eight to 2 lbs on a grey buzzer while Peter Davies (Norton Canes) hooked seven to 2 lbs 8 oz with a yellow and white cats whisker.
The trout are still high in the water at Cound Fishery where regular visitor Bill Stevens landed a best brace weighing 8 lbs 11 oz and 10 lbs 6 oz.
The largest haul of the week was recorded by Birmingham visitor Brian Warner who hooked and returned 48 on CDC’s.
Also prominent were Geof Phillips from Kidderminster with 41 on daddies and Terry Scillet (Stourbridge) 37 on CDC’s and daddies and Greg Owen (Lichfield) 32 on daddies and CDC’s.
Ellerdine Lakes is fishing well especially with nymphs and daddy flies and the week’s average bag was around six fish.
The latest competition was won by Ken Moore who travelled all the way from Chorley.
Guest visitor Richard Harris also went home happy after landing a 4 lb rainbow on a white muddler.
Top bank spots are rainbow corner, Mary Lou’s and Dougie’s.
The biggest fish of the week was a 7-9-0 rainbow cast by Wolverhampton’s Paul Lever.
