Mario Pedro was Hednesford’s hero as they caused an FA Cup upset by coming from behind to beat higher league Alfreton.
The Portuguese winger fired home a last minute winner to earn the Pitmen £3,750 in prize money and a third qualifying round local derby at Rushall Olympic a week on Saturday.
Pedro, in for the injured Dominic Heath, was in the action from the off and saw shot blocked by keeper James Lindley.
Pedro’s effort then hit Tom Ward, whose shot was tipped around the post by Lindley.
Alfreton threatened for the first time when Brian Cusworth headed Anton Brown’s cross just over.
And the hosts took the lead with a harshly-awarded 23rd minute penalty, via a former Kidderminster combination.
Scott Rickards sent Rene Gilmartin the wrong way from the spot after the referee blew for Tom Marshall’s challenge on Cusworth from Laurie Wilson’s free kick.
The home went close to doubling their lead when Cusworth fired straight at Gilmartin.
But the Pitmen deservedly equalised on 37 when Chris Adam cut inside from the left and buried an unstoppable shot.
Alfreton came out with all guns blazing at the start of the second half, Cusworth seeing a shot saved while Robinson deflected Chris Walton’s effort away.
Lindley was forced to save Ward’s drive before the home keeper was tested by Dave Macpherson.
Both Cusworth and Ashley Woolliscroft were booked after a scuffle involving several players broke out following Cusworth’s crude challenge on Macpherson.
Gilmartin made a point-blank save from Anton Brown’s powerful header, before Cusworth headed the resulting corner just wide.
Hednesford continued to push for the winner however and it came when Pedro’s shot went in off the post following Marshall’s free kick.
Substitute Matthew Glass was sent off for stamping on Ross Adams in injury-time.
