The Pitmen must do it all over again tomorrow night after a frustrating draw in this FA Cup second qualifying round clash.
The game started brightly for the Pitmen when Alan Nagington had a shot deflected off keeper Lindley’s legs.
But as the half progressed neither keeper saw much action.
Alfreton’s main threat came from their centre forward Brian Cusworth, the former Parkgate striker was judged to be onside in the 25th minute when a ball was headed back into the box from a corner kick.
Cusworth turned to hit a firm shot just wide Chris Adam had a chance to score after 60 minutes when he caught Matt Wilson in possession and raced to the edge of the box, he found himself in the same position as when he scored against Ilkeston Town in the previous game but on this occasion he pulled the shot well wide of the goal.
Adam thought he had won a penalty late in the game after he challenged for a ball following Lindley’s drop but the referee cautioned Hednesford’s man of the match for a dive. Ashley Woolliscroft then had a chance to win the game late on but blasted over.
