AFC Wulfrunians 7 Ledbury Town 0
With Manager Pete Tipton away on holiday, Wulfs were led into battle by Jason Scott and Tim Tipton and the players didn’t let them down as they continued their good form by putting seven past Ledbury Town.
Wulfs opened up brightly and had the ball in the net on six minutes when an excellent passing move culminated in Simon Hardle sliding a pass through to Andy Mitchell who finished first time but was adjudged offside.
It didn’t matter though as Wulfs took the lead just two minutes later when Dave Hayhurst slotted a free kick into the path of Chip Southern (pictured) and he controlled and slid the ball past the keeper from close range.
Wulfs continued to pass the ball with great fluency and almost extended their lead when Oli Meanley crossed in to the middle and Andy Mitchell sent a header just over the bar.
Even the setback of losing Dave Hayhurst to injury, to be replaced by Ricky Anslow, didn’t stop the Wulfs onslaught and they finally doubled their lead four minutes before half time when Simon Hardle screwed a pass out to Robbie Hubball and he cut inside and fired in a shot that keeper Ade Hodges could only push out for Hubball to fire home on the follow up.
Two minutes later it was almost three.
This time Ricky Anslow was released in the inside right position and he arrowed in towards goal but his attempt to lift the ball over the sprawling keeper was thwarted by the keeper’s outstretched arm.
Despite dominating for the entire 45 minutes, a 2-0 lead can still be a precarious position but Wulfs were in no mood to come away with anything but a win.
Just one minute into the second half Chip Southern delivered a low cross which Simon Hardle met with a first time shot but Ade Hodges produced an excellent save and Andy Mitchell’s follow up effort flew over the bar.
Ledbury’s one chance to get back into the game came in the 58th minute when Ramsey Oliver raced on to a through ball but his shot was blocked by the foot of onrushing Wulfs keeper Danny Tipton.
That miss proved vital as Wulfs extended their lead just one minute later.
Andy Mitchell chased a ball over the top and bore down on goal before being hauled down by the keeper.
Andy Mitchell himself scored from the resulting penalty.
The flood gates were now about to open and Ricky Anslow had a shot tipped over the bar before getting himself on to the score sheet in the 65th minute when a defenders attempted clearance struck Andy Mitchell and fell to Ricky Anslow who fired a low shot into the corner of the net from the edge of the area.
Five minutes later and it was five.
An offside looking Ricky Anslow took advantage of his good fortune to head for goal but was tripped in the area and the outcome was another penalty which Andy Mitchell again despatched with ease.
Ledbury’s best chance of the game came seven minutes from time when Ollie Endacott raced on to a ball over the top before chipping over the keeper but, unfortunately for him, wide of the post.
Again Wulfs responded with a goal one minute later. Robbie Hubball slid a ball in behind the defence allowing Ricky Anslow to nip in and casually lift the ball over the advancing keeper for his second of the game.
The icing on the cake came four minutes from time.
Mark Tipton delivered a long ball over the top for Chip Southern to race on to and finish at the second attempt after the keeper had blocked his first effort.
Southern then had the chance to complete an unlikely hat-trick but he shot over after he had been put in the clear again.
