Norton hit four in win

Norton J.F.C Vs Bearmore Knights

Well after an eventful week off the field today we were happily able to concentrate on enjoying the football.

Bearmore were another team who had started the season brightly so we knew a good performance was needed.

In the early stages the teams seemed to be feeling each other out as neither really found any rhythm.

The first chance of the game came from a corner, Joe Davis (pictured) drilled the corner across the 6 yard box from which a goal mouth scramble ensued with the ball some how staying out.

About 15mins into the half the lads began to take control as Joe and Kieron O’Grady took control in the middle of the park.

Joe had a hand in the first goal, he played a ball over the top for Adam New who some how managed to battle past two Bearmore players before squaring to Ryan Caldwell for a simple finish.

To give credit to Bearmore they came back at us, but with all the back four defending well we never really looked troubled.

The lads stepped up a gear towards the end of the half and Joe produced a moment of magic to make it 2-0, a goal kick dropped just in front of him and he unleashed a 35 yard Volley that flew into the top corner (goal of the season contender I feel).

Half Time 2-0

The second half was very similar to the first, the lads seemed happy to allow Bearmore to push on and just hit them on the counter attack.

James Mills and Mikey Woodall were now finding more freedom and both were causing problems with their direct running.

It was Joe again who was involved in the third goal, a flowing passing move from the back was ended with Joe playing a perfect through ball to Ryan and he made no mistake from 12 yards.

There wasn’t too much more action in the second half until a series of corners caused Bearmore all sorts of problems and the same as last week Adam New finished after Bearmore were unable to clear Mikey’s corner.

The lads continued to defend strongly and at the final whistle the clean sheet was nothing more than their performance deserved.

Full Time 4-0

Man of the Match - Joe Davis.

The lads put on a very professional performance today against a strong Bearmore side. Keep it up lads!!
