A lesson in fun

wd2307476summer-1-tt-30.jpgHundreds of children saw the summer out with a bang at Baggeridge Country Park at Himley between Dudley and Wolverhampton.

Almost 400 youngsters packed into the park for a huge fun day before they return back to their classrooms.

The event, which was staged by South Staffordshire District Council and made possible by Staffordshire Children’s Fund, saw children picked up on buses from all over the south of the county and dropped off at the park where they took part in many different activities. From arts and crafts, sports and printing, the children were kept busy throughout the day learning new skills and practising old ones.

The finale was a massive street dance by all those who attended.

Katie White, cultural services manager at South Staffordshire District Council, said: “This is the second year we have done this. We’ve had almost 400 children aged five to 13 all doing different things.

“There’s been activities and competitions. It’s been all about educating them about what we do and so they can find out how to make themselves healthier.”

Baggeridge also hosted a weekend folk festival, with real ale, craft stalls, children’s entertainment and morris dancers.

Thousands of fantastic holidays to choose from!
