The good news for Wolverhampton car enthusiast Mike Levy is that his stolen souped-up Vauxhall Nova has been found.
The bad news is that it’s been stripped of parts – and it’s cost him more than £270 to bring it home.
The Express & Star reported yesterday on how the 21-year-old had been left devastated after the car, which he bought for £50, was stolen from outside his girlfriend’s house in Wednesfield. It was his pride and joy with custom seats and alloy wheels.
He spent £9,000 on upgrades, including parts from another Vauxhall he owned which was also stolen, and worked on the vehicle for thousands of hours.
But it was taken overnight by a thief who left only the door lock lying in the road as a memento.
Last night, painter and decorator Mike, who also lives in Wednesfield, was left counting the cost of his hobby after the car was recovered – minus several parts. It had been abandoned in Eversley Grove, off Amos Lane, and a resident phoned police.
He had to pay just over £270 in salvage, overnight storage and return fees.
Mr Levy said: “It’s very muddy, and missing a lot of parts by the looks of things. Whoever stole it started to strip the engine down as well. I don’t know where it’s been.”
He is now considering what to do with the car.
Anyone with information about the theft should contact Wednesfield police on 0845 113 5000.

Mike.im sorry that you have been the victim of someones foul behaviour. But it is well known that they are so easy to break in to.You have insurance,my advice replace the car with something thats not attractive to yobbos and thieving gits sweetheart and invest your cash in security for the car that you chose as a replacement.

Glad you got your car back Mike but I am annoyed that these comment pages are turning into a Alpha recruitment centre.

People categorise these as ‘chav’ cars. To me there is no difference between this type of car and a 40 year old buying a new mini cooper. It has no more outrageous than a lot of new cars, this guy has just decided to invest in making his vehicle how he wants. However security should of been higher on the agenda perhaps.
