Eves fears on defender

Willenhall Town FCWillenhall defender Ross Brown faces a late fitness test ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Bishops Cleeve - after getting injured at work.

Brown missed Tuesday night’s 2-1 victory over Stourbridge after turning his ankle when he tripped up.

And boss Mel Eves is planning to give Brown every opportunity to prove his fitness.

“I’ve read about professionals getting freak injuries after slipping on toys at home, or Leroy Lita pulling a muscle when he overstretched in bed and now it’s happened to us,” said Eves.

“I couldn’t believe it when Ross told me he’s turned his ankle at work. He failed a fitness test on Tuesday and Liam Newell came in for his debut and did ok. We’ll see how he is.”

Eves admits he’s not sure which Bishops Cleeve side will turn up tomorrow.

“They can blow hot and cold,” said Eves.

“They were our first home game last season and they beat us 2-0 before we were firing on any cylinders.

“They played us at the right time. I know they have started off well and won their first game 5-3 away from home so it will be interesting.”
