Buxton 0 Hednesford 2

flyby1.jpgThe Pitmen spoilt the home club’s celebration of their return to the UniBond Premier Division after a 10- year absence with another excellent all round team performance.

The Pitmen frustrated the home team for long periods of the game and in the end their patience broke when Mark Reed was sent off for a two footed challenge on man of the match Tom Marshall.

Phil Starbuck selected the same starting line up with one change on the bench, new signing from Shifnal Town, Dominic Heath replacing Danny Blair.

Simon Forsdick carried on where he left on Saturday and tormented the home defenders.

A defensive mistake allowed Ross Dyer to get into the Buxton penalty area but he missed the chance to score as his firm shot hit the side netting.

The opening goal was not long in coming as Meakin-Richards won a firm challenge on the half way line, then Heath took control and with an attacking run to the edge of the box he suddenly slipped a pass to Peter Knox who took one touch before sending a shot past Hartley to give the Pitmen a 21st minute lead.

The Pitmen had been in total control of the game then mistakes started to creep in which gave encouraged the home team.

Paul Robinson bringing the ball out of defence sold Dave Macpherson short with a poor pass, allowing Mark Reed to break down the left wing.

The home club’s centre forward squared the ball to Anton Foster on the edge of the box but he failed to worry Rene Gilmartin as he blasted his shot over.

On the hour Ross Adams was making a right wing run and was fouled by two defenders sandwiching him.

Forsdick sent a curling free kick into the box which Ross Dyer headed down onto Tom Marshall standing by the right hand post, stabbed the ball home from close range to make it 2-0 and seal the three points.
