Money hints at changes

wd2282162.jpgWalsall boss Richard Money today hinted at possible changes for Saturday’s trip to Leyton Orient with five players in contention for call-ups to the starting line-up.

Money suggested that the five, headed by talented teenager Ishmel Demontagnac, could be in line to start for the first time this season when the Saddlers travel to Brisbane Road at the weekend.

And Edrissa Sonko and Rhys Weston could make their Saddlers debuts after missing the start of the season through injury.

Money also confirmed that Ian Roper is being considered for a recall despite the impressive performances of Scott Dann and Anthony Gerrard against Swansea last night.

“I don’t think that Martin Butler, Edrissa Sonko, Ian Roper, Rhys Weston and Ishmel Demontagnac would consider themselves reserve team players,” said Money.

“Maybe we have played the first two games with five of our reserves. Who knows?

“I don’t think anyone should read anything into the starting line-ups.

“We picked the same 11 because we need to get some familiarity in the group and I can only pick what I have, but I’m hopeful that the five that I mentioned will all be available for selection for the weekend.

“We’ve started with Anthony Gerrard and Scott Dann but Ian Roper is probably fitter now than he has been all pre-season and he has to come into the reckoning for the weekend.

“When we’ve got everybody fit and well and everyone available for selection I think the team will grow.

“We’ve gone up a level and we know that, we’ve played two of the better teams in the division in the first two games and we’ve nearly played well.”

Crud - only 8 games to go before consideration has to be given as to whether we need a more experienced manager

I would not stress about who plays, if the O’s continue their form from away wins at Southend and QPR, it will be a pointless trip for Walsall

There is a difference between free speech and deliberate and continued stupidity. I have no problem with people criticising the team if it is constructive and sensible. To say that we should sack the manager who won us League 2 just because we’ve drawn one and lost one is ridiculous. I realise the team isn’t perfect and Money isn’t either but we are never going to win every game and we are not going to be able to play stunning football all the time. Please be realistic, we are Walsall, not Barcelona.

As for the Leyton Orient game, its a tough one, as most of the away games will be this season. Hopefully we can pick up another draw, come on Walsall!

Happy Clappers via the Realists. I’m no idiot. Just becasue Idon’t agree with your view does not make people stupid. Its called debate.

I am glad Walsall are seeing it as a tough game.

It is really important to O’s team and confidence building. Having had two great results from 2 away derbies there is a chance of a good home crowd on Saturday, tantalised by the results and good pre season friendlies against Spurs and the Hammers. A good result for O’s is likely to build home support for this season which is a vital factor in them continuing to recruit good players.

It was a reluctance to buy in after promotion last season that nearly resulted in a very rapid demotion that had continued league one status depending on the last few games of the season.

So it looks like an important game all round. The atmosphere will be helped by a good Walsall crowd. I presume, as with most provincial clubs, they have a metropolitan support of a hundred or so who swell the attendance at away games in London?
