DJ trapped by bees in studio

wd2106520wyre-jm-10.jpgDisc Jockey Alex Totney found himself in a tricky situation when he was trapped in the 107.2FM The Wyre radio studio in Kidderminster by a swarm of bees.

Alex was on air in the studios in Stourport Road doing his Saturday afternoon sports show when he noticed what he thought were wasps in the station’s studio reception area.

“At first I just carried on doing my show. But then all of a sudden the place was full of them. The big concern was that I had to pass through the reception area to get out of the station.”

Station Director Rob Ison received a call from Alex at 4pm. He said: “His concern was the wasps might get into the studio because he is allergic to stings.

“We called the local police station who were really helpful and they helped organise a pest control company to come down.

“The pests control guys arrived about 10 minutes later to remove the wasps that turned out to be bees.

“Listeners have already complied a top ten of bee-related songs for Alex!”
