A schoolboy who has entertained football fans at Molineux for years is hoping to score another success tonight when he battles it out in the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent.
Willenhall’s Dominic Smith won over the hearts of the celebrity judging panel on the show, which is beating Big Brother hands down in the TV ratings.
The St Thomas More School pupil blew judges away in front of millions of viewers on Sunday night’s episode with his acapella version of The Righteous Brothers’ hit Unchained Melody.
Judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan loved the 14-year-old’s rendition of the classic song and complimented him on his fantastic voice.
The contest, which is attracting 7.2million viewers, compared to 4m for Big Brother, is open to any entertainment act of any age.
And its funny and heart-rending performances now have millions hooked. The show is going out simultaneously in the USA and Britain this week.
Dominic has been sending shivers down the spines of Wolves fans for a number of years with his half-time performances.
He was shown on last night’s programme waiting in a packed audition room for four hours among 140 finalists who had made it through to the next round.
The all-star judging trio then chose him as one just 26 acts who will compete for a slot on the Royal Variety Show in front of the Queen in September.
Proud St Thomas More headteacher Sean Flynn has been invited to the ITV1 studios to show his support for his star pupil on tonight’s show.
Mr Flynn said everyone at the school was proud of Dominic’s achievement and called on people to vote for him tonight.
The schoolboy faces competition tonight from a host of acts including Welsh mobile phone salesman and opera singer Paul Potts, 38, who sent spines tingling with his rendition of Nessun Dorma.

Criminal! The judges should have put him through to the final on sunday. What an awful shame he didn’t make it - he was superb. Still, hopefully he won’t need success on Britain’s Got Talent in order to be on our screens again in the future.
Well done Dominic!
