A driver from a company called Carford is getting a ribbing from colleagues – after his own CAR became stuck in a FORD near Wolverhampton.
James Gregory found himself stranded when he attempted to drive through a ford in Furness Grange Road, Trescott, near Seisdon. With his foot firmly on the accelerator, he repeatedly attempted to move forward but his efforts were in vain.
When a breakdown team finally arrived to save his motor, he thought his nightmare was over.
But they failed to winch out the car and Mr Gregory was left high and dry for more than four hours.
Mr Gregory, from Walsall, had only managed to escape from the water-logged vehicle himself when a passing handyman spotted his predicament and happened to have ladders with him. He stretched them over from the bank to allow Mr Gregory to shimmy across.
As he waited for the RAC to bring back a bigger van, Mr Gregory said he could see the funny side. “You’ve got to laugh really haven’t you because you’d cry if not,” he said.
“I’ve told my family and they were too busy laughing at me. I won’t be amused if I have to pay to get the van winched out, however, which I am told is the case.”
A sign nearby does give motorists a warning about the ford and to check the depth.
