A beauty salon owner who tried to win a lavish dream wedding has instead scooped a voucher for a funeral.
Stacey Cattell, who runs Moments Beauty Centre in Walsall Road, Cannock, has been engaged to firefighter Mark Cund for a year and a half.
The loving couple were hoping to get married next year but brought forward their plans when they heard about a competition called Four Weddings and a Funeral.
The pair, of Church Road, Wolverhampton, missed out on a £20,000 dream wedding, a football-themed wedding alongside thousands of fans at Molineux, a Las Vegas wedding and a low budget registry office wedding and cafe reception.
Instead they won a funeral bond from Wombourne Funeral Services worth £1,500.
Nearly 5,000 listeners placed votes in the Beacon Radio competition, with the winners announced by breakfast show presenters Fresh and Jo last week.
Stacey, aged 25, saw it advertised in the Express & Star and urged Mark, 28, to go for it. But they are now celebrating after organising their own dream wedding for next April.
She said: “We were gutted at first but by the end of the day we had booked our own wedding and it is exactly what we wanted.”
