Ginger wig tribute to McShane

mcshane.jpgAlbion fans have rallied behind the team in their hour of need - with an army of 6,000 set to back the Baggies in their play-off crunch at Coventry on Saturday.

Less than 200 of Albion’s 6,200 allocation for their first ever visit to the Ricoh Arena remained on general sale from the Hawthorns box office today.

And, in an added twist given Paul McShane’s appeal hearing against his sending off at Burnley today, the Baggies supporters’ club has urged supporters to join in with their chosen Irish theme for the final away game of the season in honour of the defender.

In means the away end is set to be a sea of green shirts and ginger wigs for a match that could go a long way to booking a top six place.

The massive following - easily the Baggies’ biggest of the season - will be a massive boost to Tony Mowbray and his players at a time when their play-off challenge has threatened to come off the rails after taking only seven points from a possible 27.

But captain Paul Robinson today urged both players and fans to forget about their recent disappointments and unite to ensure Albion get over the finishing line in their quest to extend their season.

“We’ve got to forget about Monday’s game now and it will be a massive help being backed by our biggest away following of the season at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday,” he said.

“Coventry is a big game for us to focus on and it’s a local derby to boot.

“We know we’ll have over 6,000 Baggies fans there getting right behind us - as they always do. Our fans have been fantastic all year and they will make a lot of noise at that one end of the Sky Blues’ stadium.

“They have travelled everywhere and shown their true colours in style.

“Taking that number of fans to Coventry shows the great support we have and they are willing us to where we want to get,” added Robinson.
