Branching out with new salon

vip-salon.jpgA family-run hair salon has opened a second shop, creating five jobs.VIP Hair Ltd spent £50,000 transforming a premises that had been derelict for two years in Market Street, Penkridge.

And they celebrated the revamp with an opening party for 70 clients and friends this week.

The husband and wife team behind the upmarket venture already have a successful salon in Landywood Lane, Cheslyn Hay, which opened in 2003. Paul and Vanessa Horrocks, of Derrington near Stafford, plan to open more salons if the business continues to grow.

Special features of the new salon include massage chairs for hair washing and a full drinks menu while you wait. They now have a total of 18 staff at the two shops and there were new jobs available from stylists to juniors.

Vanessa, a 32-year-old mother of two, said Penkridge was the “perfect place” to expand their business and there was no expense spared. She said: “We have just grown the business basically from when we started with Paul and I and four staff to now having a team of 18 to help us.”

Paul’s mother, Shirley, founded the firm in 1990 and still does administrative and reception work. He joined in 1994 after working for Francesco’s, including 18 months running a hair salon in Sydney, Australia.

Too many hair/beauty salons in Penkridge already.

Planning permission officers should be held accountable for allowing this to happen.

In Market Street you can have your hair done in 4 salons and choose from about three coffee shops to have a cup of tea with a slice of cake in whilst you plan your next hair do.

    Many congratulations to the firm,
it is nice to know that Hairdresers are changing their image, and keeping more update with products. I personally go every week to a Salon in my area, and there is nothing better than feeling good about yourself.
