A Georgian manor house believed to be the most expensive home in the Wolverhampton area has been sold for more than £2million.
Set in the rural surroundings of the village of Little Moor, just outside Pattingham, The Manor was bought by new owners - believed to be local people - last week.
The 40-acre private estate had been on the market with Tettenhall agents Bartlams for a cool £2.3 million.
Boasting an indoor swimming pool, the five-bedroom luxury house comes complete with private ponds, woodland and stunning views of rural South Staffordshire and Shropshire.
Also included as part of the sale is a cottage and a collection of outbuildings which include a helicopter hangar, barns and stabling.
The accommodation includes a hall, four reception rooms, top-of-the-range kitchen, cellars, master bedroom with en-suite shower room, four further bedrooms and a principal bathroom.
It is approached by a long, private driveway, and at the front of the property are two established ponds in a stunning limestone cutting and steep woodland to the rear.
The formal gardens are mostly lawned, with mature trees, and there is also an enclosed kitchen garden with a rose arch.
Peter James, from Bartlams, described it as a “special house” and the most expensive he had come across during his 20 years in the business.
“This property is very rare, and it shows how strong the market is right now, as we had two local bidders,” he said. “For a property in the Wolverhampton area to be sold for in excess of £2million is unheard of.”
In August, Far Park - one of the premier addresses in West Wolverhampton - was put on the market for £1,250,000 before being withdrawn.
Tettenhall-based estate agents Berriman Eaten currently have three properties on the market for more than £1million.
They include Green Lawn, in Bridgnorth Road (£1.15m) the seven-bedroom Tettenhall Court (£1.25m) and the Lower Penn country house Orchard Hill (£1.1m).
Mr James added: “The Manor provided a very rare opportunity to buy a small estate of the very highest quality - it is an exceptional Georgian manor house with stunning views, and the property combines rural living with excellent communication links - it’s a special property.
“You may get properties for sale at this price in some parts of Shropshire but not usually in the Wolverhampton area.”
