Sadly, neither my car or my physique are helpful in allowing me to easily slide in through a conveniently opened window, before heading off on a high-speed chase along dusty roads in the Deep South.
A 2002 Ford Fiesta Flight, my automobile of choice, instead favours pragmatism over style alone.
What it lacks in ‘va va voom’ it more than makes up for with its accessible controls, almost effortless handling and a reasonably economic fuel consumption, allowing for travelling on even the tightest of budgets.
While the driver’s side airbag has yet to be put to the test, the lack of one on the passenger side does make it now feel a little outdated.
The most annoying gripe about the car, though, is the metronomic click which accompanies use of the indicator - it’s the loudest in any car that I’ve driven, and one sure to wear down particularly pedantic motorists!
Reliable and easy to drive, the Fiesta was my first experience of buying a used car - proving itself to be a worthy investment, I haven’t regretted making that decision since.
