Lisa wins car blunder apology

yellowlines-2-ae.jpgWorkmen have been forced to apologise to a driver after they pushed her legally-parked car onto double yellow lines – denting it in the process and nearly landing her with a parking ticket.

Lisa Williams, aged 32, had left her car parked legally in a bay in Frederick Street, Wolverhampton.

But she was stunned when she returned from work just hours later and found the blue Corsa had been moved a few feet forward onto double yellow lines.

As well as painting lines in the former parking bays she claims the workmen, from Ringway Roadworks, also dented her car in the move, and it will cost around £200 to put right.

A traffic officer was only stopped from slapping a ticket on the car by staff at Origin Media, who had witnessed the whole incident.

Wolverhampton City Council’s Tim Clark said bosses would now be reviewing their contractual agreements with Ringway following the incident.

“The contractors in question were called in for a meeting and we made it clear to them that we expected them to carry out their own internal investigation and report back their findings.

“Ringway has now admitted that it did move the car. We are concerned and disappointed that the behaviour of Ringway has not met the high standards that the council expects of its contractors. We are now reviewing our contractual arrangements with this company,” he said.

Chris Overton, contracts director for Ringway Roadmarking, said: “We have been shocked by the behaviour of the crew that was working in Frederick Street earlier this week and can only apologise to Miss Williams.

“We have already started disciplinary procedures to ensure that the crew members in question are dealt with as quickly as possible and in the appropriate way.”
