Memorial to star delayed

starcarroll.jpgA permanent memorial to a West Bromwich-born film legend will not be unveiled until next year.

Originally it was thought the monument in honour of Madeleine Carroll would be on show to the public in November.

However, a series of delays means the £17,000 centrepiece, set for the new town square in West Bromwich, will not been seen this year.

A date for the unveiling will be confirmed in January.

Madeleine, who was born in Herbert Street, is best known for her role in Alfred Hitchcock movie The 39 Steps.
