For Sale: Detached two-bedroomed bungalow with conservatory on corner plot in prime Staffordshire location, near Wolverhampton - pet dog included in fixtures and fittings.
It is not exactly what was included on the property sale details but it’s what home buyer Margaret Spittle ended up with.
When the grandmother cast her eyes on the bungalow she knew she had found her perfect home. But it was love at first sight in more ways than one as she was very taken by Toby, the Jack Russell Westie cross that lived at the Codsall property.
And when she learned that six-year-old Toby was due to be taken to a rescue centre because the couple selling the home were unable to take him to their new place she asked if she could take him on.
So once the sale was complete she became the new owner of the bungalow and its dog.
Mrs Spittle’s daughter Hazel Green, said it was a very happy ending for all concerned.
“When Toby first saw my mother he ran straight over to her as if he had known her for years,” she said.
“It really was love at first sight and he’s really helping her to settle into her new home.
“My mother has always loved dogs and we’ve had them in the family so it’s fantastic that she now has Toby. He has been able to keep his home and he’s proving to be great company for my mother.
“They are very happy together and it’s certainly an unusual take on the usual fixtures and fittings included in the sale,” she added,
Estate agent Nick Berriman, of Berriman Eaton Estate Agents in Tettenhall, said: “We were absolutely delighted to achieve a sale with such a happy ending, and it’s clear that Toby and Mrs Spittle were made for each other.”
Berriman Eaton Estate Agents are also holding their annual Christmas collection for Sunnyside Kennels in Coven this year.
Anyone who would like to donate dog food or treats can hand them in at the office in High Street, Tettenhall.
