minifull.jpgA fleet of Minis from Wolverhampton will “star” in a new TV series, as celebrities get behind the wheel and race around Silverstone.

Sky One series The Race is hosted by Denise Van Outen tonight.

Ten celebrities, split into boys and girls teams, will spend the next six days at Silverstone in a variety of race cars.

Providing Minis is the Mini 7 Racing Club, with Lee Jones, of Bilbrook, Codsall, near Wolverhampton, driver and team captain of Team Mini Midlands, putting celebs through their paces. Lee and his team helped with dry runs to get camera angles set up.

They feature in the Wednesday night show as singer Miss Dynamite, actress Melissa Joan Hart, Tamara Ecclestone daughter of F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone and model/TV celebrity, presenter Jenny Frost and celebrity reporter Ingrid Tarrant, wife of TV’s Chris, battle actor Nick Moran, ex-footballer Les Ferdinand, singer Gary Newman, ex-boxer Nigel Benn and AC/DC singer Brian Johnson for supremacy in their classic British motors.

The Race is on 10pm-11pm nightly, with a half-hour follow-up at 11pm called Pit Stop, with scenes interviews and out-takes. Lee has two free tickets for people to meet the stars, on a first come, first-served basis.
