You’ve spotted a glitzy designer dress on a celebrity and would just love to try it out for size - well now you can in the comfort of your own home.
Forget the catwalks of London and Paris - haute couture is coming straight to your living room as a West Midland clothes company offers ladies the chance to be a diva.
Bearwood-based Sweet LA Dress Company has already stamped a stiletto on the national fashion scene and is now launching ‘Be a Diva’ - a personal shopping service brought to women in their own homes or work places.
Design team Annamaria Hughes and Linda Sutton have seen their glamorous and sexy creations grace a series of national fashion magazines, with celebrities such as singer Mylene Klass and ex-EastEnders actress Michelle Collins, who played Cindy Beale, modelling them.
The company sells its designs via its online boutique but now its two designers are offering their whole collection - including some one-off designs - for ladies in the West Midlands to try at their pleasure.
Priced from £85 to £150, their glitzy creations include the popular London Gold dress, which is a halter dress with sash tie belt priced at £150.
Silk
The Madrid is an £85 peasant style dress in viscose with a frilled neckline and frill at the hem and the £120 Vegas is a knee length, one-shoulder dress in black silk jersey.
The duo have just launched the personal shopping service called “Be a Diva” and it’s already proving popular.
“So far everyone has loved our dresses,” Annamaria, 35. “As you can imagine, fashion plus wine can make a real party atmosphere.”
The parties also benefit from exclusive one-of-a-kind items.
“They’ve been snapped up,” she said.
“Sometimes we’ll make a design from a sample fabric and decide not to go to production with it. Our production runs are always small, but even so people clamour after the idea of something truly unique.”
