A nightspot has won permission to open Stourbridge’s second lap dancing club - despite fears it will make the town the “Soho” of the Black Country.
The Picture House nightclub in Hagley Road will open a new multi-purpose entertainment venue to include lap dancing four nights a week until 2am.
Owners Enteramma wanted to extend the opening time until 4am but police objected.
Heaven Gentlemen’s Club in Lower High Street opened earlier this year.
Manager Chris Stanley said it was “splendid” news and the club would be up and running in about the next six months.
He added: “The room is on the first floor and used to be a bowling alley. At the moment it is just an empty shell. It will hold about 500 people and we are aiming at the over-21s market.”
The club is aiming to employ around 30 dancers as well as creating jobs for other staff as well.
The news has shocked the town’s MP Lynda Waltho who said the move would have a negative effect on Stourbridge.
She said: “I would have hoped Stourbridge would be famous for other things, other than being known as the Soho of the Black Country.”
