Walsall midfielder Darren Wrack today emerged from his long-awaited comeback to tell manager Richard Money: “I’m ready whenever you need me”. The long-serving wide man returned from a 13-month injury lay-off with 90 minutes for Saddlers’ reserves in a 2-1 win against Nottingham Forest last night.

And, while he understands that Money may take a cautious approach, Wrack is ready to play for the first team whenever he is needed.
“If he picks me on Saturday I will play on Saturday,” said Wrack.
“I feel ready and if the gaffer turned to be today and told me he wanted me to play then I would play.
“I know that might be a little bit unrealistic and maybe it’s my heart ruling my head, but, if he told me I was playing, that wouldn’t be a problem.
“On a more realistic note I’ll probably need at least another week or so and obviously it’s up to the gaffer to watch me and decide when he thinks I’m ready to play.
“I’m probably still lacking a bit of my sharpness, but I think I played my way into the game slowly and got better as it wore on.”
Wrack’s appearance last night was his first since he broke his left fibula and ruptured ankle ligaments while winning a penalty in a League One match at Yeovil last September.
But the former Derby and Grimsby man reported no reaction from the injury after his comeback game.
“I iced it afterwards to make sure there was no swelling ,but it feels fine,” he said. “I didn’t have any real 50-50 challenges but I’ve made enough challenges in training and wise enough to know what to go for and how to ease myself back into it.”
Wrack’s comeback was a timely boost for Money, who also saw teenage striker Alex Nicholls complete another 80 minutes following his own broken leg.
