Police in Stone mounted their biggest ever drugs raid last week following concerns from local residents over drug use in the area.
More than 20 officers, who had been working in partnership with housing association Stafford and Rural Homes entered three properties in Willow Road and Jervis Road, in Stone on Thursday October 5, recovering a significant haul of stolen goods and controlled drugs.
Karen Armitage, Chief Executive of Stafford and Rural Homes, said that the association would not tolerate the use of drugs or disruption to the community and are planning more action in the future.
She said: “This is the first time we have done anything of this nature as Stafford and Rural Homes, but it certainly will not be the last. We need to get tough on things like this.
“This is a first-class example of how we are prepared to take our residents’ concerns seriously and work with the police and other agencies to help ensure that our estates are safe and pleasant places to live in.”
Three teams of officers took part in the raid, which was held in response to concerns from local residents that the tenants were behind a number of ‘unlawful activities’ in the area.
In total five men were arrested during the two raids in Willow Road on the Priory Estate and one in Jarvis Road.
