Fans’ favourite Paul Robinson today warned the rest of the Championship to prepare for an “unstoppable” Albion promotion surge.
The Brummie Road End’s new folk idol is bristling with confidence about the Baggies’ chase for the Premiership in the wake of Saturday’s epic, 10-man victory over Leeds.
“Robbo” is convinced that the return and match-winning inspiration of Diomantsy Kamara gives Albion a four-pronged strike force which their rivals will struggle to resist over the course of the marathon season.Despite the Hawthorns grumbles which helped trigger the departure of Bryan Robson, Albion are well-placed among the early pace-setters - and Saturday’s memorable performance has sent a wave of fresh optimism through the camp that one of the Championship’s most powerful squads is about to click.
“‘Joe’ was fantastic and played particularly well with Kevin Phillips, who brought players into the game and did an excellent job,” said the left-back.
“Joe played off him with his pace and, with his skill, the defenders couldn’t cope with him. I think that partnership could flourish, but if we can get all four of our strikers firing they will be unstoppable.
“We’ll pick up injuries, knocks and suspensions and you have to count yourself lucky if all four stay fit and don’t get suspended.
“But, when Nathan Ellington and John Hartson are fully fit and not worried about injuries, we’ll have some strikeforce.”
