The mother of tragic teenager Scott Poll will walk the streets of West Bromwich where her son died for the first time on Sunday when she leads a protest march in his name. The Justice for Scott demo will trace the seven streets along which 17-year-old Scott was dragged to his death by a taxi driven by Ghulam Hussain. The march has been organised by Scott’s heartbroken mother Sharon who said it will be the first time she has visited the streets where her son was killed.
“It will be the first time I have walked the road but it’s something that I feel I will need to do eventually,” she said.
Mrs Poll came up with idea for a protest march after being shocked at the three-year prison sentence handed out to Hussain.
She said she wanted to hold the march to raise awareness of lenient sentences given out to killer drivers.
“I am marching to try and get life sentencing for drivers, not just for Scott but for other people’s children,” she said.
She said she had been inundated with calls from people who wanted to support the family and show their disgust at sentence.
Earlier this month Judge Frank Chapman handed out a three-year jail term to Hussain.
The march will start outside the Crown and Anchor pub in Hollyhedge Road at noon.
