Dressing down to impress

OceanaThere were a few fuzzy heads in the office this morning after several of us headed out to the opening of Wolverhampton’s new nightclub Oceana last night. Having taken a tour of the club on Monday lunchtime it was interesting to see it packed with club-goers for the first time.

Equally interesting was the interpretation of the dress code stated on the tickets which said people should come “smart”.

Those instructions weren’t rigidly observed by all - I spied one guy wearing a basketball vest.

It seems dressing smart in Wolverhampton means nothing more than making sure your fly is fastened.

While we’re on the subject of clothes, our latest assignment took us behind the scenes at fashion store New Look which opened today in the Mander Centre.

Vicky Nash and Steve WrightCredit should go to reporters Vicky Nash and Steve Wright who supressed their natural modesty to model outfits gathered from the store’s bulging racks.

Things did not get off to a good start for the pair who arrived at the shop only to be asked by a member of the management team when the models would be getting there.

But they soldiered on valiantly and the results of their labours can now be viewed in our video section.

A busy week for myself and Rich continues tomorrow when we go on the road with Chasetown FC for their FA Cup clash with Halesowen.

We’ll be taking a fly-on-the wall look at the afternoon which will go up on the site on Monday.

But I’m already approaching the day with caution.

In my previous life I was Albion correspondent for the Express & Star and Chasetown boss Charlie Blakemore said a few of the lads are looking to chewing the fat about the Baggies.

As his side contains a fair few Wolves fans though I’m expecting to receive a fair bit of stick.
