Town roads flooded

staffflood.jpgTorrential thunderstorms hit Stafford causing floods around the town. The violent storms featuring spectacular thunder and lightning yesterday morning were short lived but produced heavy rainfall, but only a couple of hours later the town was basking in glorious sunshine.

Fire crews were called out to attend to scenes of flooding in Stone and around Stafford.

One of the worst areas was in Sandon Road in Stafford where vehicles were forced to a crawl to get through deep water that built up in the road.

In the north of Staffordshire a house was struck by lightning at Westbury Park, Clayton. There was no fire but the building’s roof was damaged.

There was localised flooding on many minor roads around the county.
