“As a life-long Baggies fan from Tividale, Dudley, I was expecting Robbo’s exit around the end of the year if the team’s goal scoring and win record remained the same. Robbo was such a skilled footballer that playing and reading the game came natural to him and I think he expected the same skill and ability all the time from his players. Coaching is so different from playing the game, you have to realise individual strengths and abilities. At times, I think Robbo forgot that. Too bad, because an ex-Albion stalwart succeeding would have been great.” Neil Griffiths, Lutz, Florida
“This could be a big mistake on the part of Jeremy Peace. It needs to be remembered that it is because of Bryan Robson that some of the club’s top players (Robinson, Davies, Greening, Gera, Watson) decided not to jump ship at the end of last season. It is also because of Robson that the likes of John Hartson and Kevin Phillips decided to join us.
“I’ve just seen the reaction of Phillips and Watson on TV and this decision has devastated them - where are they going to find the motivation to take us back to the Premiership? Don’t get deluded into thinking Alan Curbishley will join us - we’ll probably end up with some nonentity from the lower divisions.” Dave Minnock, Wall Heath
“I would like to thank Bryan Robson for everything he has done for the club over the past 22 months. I feel that he has brought the club forward in every aspect except our league status, which I suppose at the end of the day, is the one that matters the most. We have a far better playing squad than we did when he first took charge, with a
very good looking academy, and a lot of young players coming through. I feel that the change was one, that maybe has been taken a little early, but only time will tell whether it was the right decision. Thanks, Robbo!” Daniel Login, Bourne, Lincolnshire
“I, like many other fans are sorry to see him go in so much that we wanted things to work out well for him. But the results don’t lie and we need improvement. I am puzzled though why Mr Peace has acted at such a strange time of the season rather than earlier in the summer. The pressure is on him now to appoint the right man otherwise he’s next in the fans’ firing line. You have been warned Mr Peace!” Dave Baker, Cannock
“Long overdue, I wanted him to leave before the end of last season. He has absolutely no managerial skills whatsoever and as for team selection and players he has let go, well the results speak for themselves.” Dean Wilkinson
