Baggies fans, includings members of the US contingent, give more views on Bryan Robson’s exit from the Hawthorns in the latest postbag of opinion.

“Great players don’t automatically make good managers - we are judging Robson as a manager not a player. His record is abysmal. He didn’t save us in his first season, the other clubs in the relegation zone did. Two away league victories under his stewardship plus naive tactics and team selection speak volumes. Chairman Jeremy Peace, however, is not blameless. He appointed him in the first place and did not sack him at the end of last season. “As a life-long Baggies fan from Tividale, Dudley, I was expecting Robbo’s exit around the end of the year if the team’s goal scoring and win record remained the same. Robbo was such a skilled footballer that playing and reading the game came natural to him and I think he expected the same skill and ability all the time from his players. Coaching is so different from playing the game, you have to realise individual strengths and abilities. At times, I think Robbo forgot that. Too bad, because an ex-Albion stalwart succeeding would have been great.” Neil Griffiths, Lutz, Florida

“This could be a big mistake on the part of Jeremy Peace. It needs to be remembered that it is because of Bryan Robson that some of the club’s top players (Robinson, Davies, Greening, Gera, Watson) decided not to jump ship at the end of last season. It is also because of Robson that the likes of John Hartson and Kevin Phillips decided to join us.

“I, like many other fans are sorry to see him go in so much that we wanted things to work out well for him. But the results don’t lie and we need improvement. I am puzzled though why Mr Peace has acted at such a strange time of the season rather than earlier in the summer.
