A great grandfather who left school with just one qualification graduated from university today, one month shy of his 90th birthday.

William Cooper, from Wednesfield, was receiving his scroll for a degree in sociology after six years of part-time study at the University of Wolverhampton.
The pensioner, who is 90 on October 11, become the oldest graduate ever at the university as he prepared to receive his award at the city’s Grand Theatre.
He said: “It hasn’t been easy learning again but I found the course extremely interesting.
“I think that if you’ve got an interest in something then you can succeed regardless of how old you are.
“I really enjoyed mixing with the students young and old and those who have come to Wolverhampton to study from abroad.”
The former Royal Navy coder left Wolverhampton Grammar School at 16 with just an arithmetic qualification.
Mr Cooper is graduating with a 2:2 honours degree.
