The headteacher of a school near Kidderminster got more than he bargained for on the first day of term when a three-feet-long snake slithered into his office. Martin De Vine head of Cookley Sebright School in Lea Lane, was stunned when he walked into his office at 4pm to find staff armed with a cardboard box trying to round up the unwelcome visitor.
Eagle-eyed school secretary Jan Porter spotted the grass snake scurrying down a corridor.
It was eventually caught and released into a nearby field.
