A derelict 12.5 acre site in the Black Country is set to be brought back to life in a £12 million scheme expected to create around 180 jobs.
The land - a former mining and landfill site on the outskirts of Dudley town centre - will be transformed into a high-quality commercial development of around 160,000 sq ft of business space. It has undergone a £5 million remediation and reclamation scheme by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council.
Halesowen-based property company Mucklow has exchanged contracts with Advantage West Midlands to develop the land at Yorks Park, next to Dudley by-pass. The area has benefited from a £1 million scheme to build an access roundabout.
Phase one of the project also includes significant preparation work on phase two at the site, which can accommodate up to 120,000 sq ft, with construction likely to start in early 2008.
Councillor Malcolm Knowles, Cabinet member for Economic Regeneration, said: “The site is being developed for high technology output and this investment now provides a real opportunity to deliver this.”
